Connect MixReady to rekordbox

MixReady puts a finished set straight into rekordbox as a playlist, streaming tracks included, and can mark where each track mixes in and out.

Short answer. Build the set in the MixReady desktop app, press Add to rekordbox, and the playlist is in rekordbox — there is no file to import. Cue points take one more press. rekordbox can stay open, and your library is backed up before every change.

Step by step

Build the set in the MixReady desktop app, on the computer rekordbox is on, with rekordbox chosen as the Rig. In the web app you get a file to import instead.
On the set page, press Add to rekordbox, then Export. The playlist shows the next time rekordbox starts. To see it straight away, use Add to rekordbox and reopen it and confirm Quit, add and relaunch.
For cue points, press Write on Write mix cues — memory cues, or on — hot cues. They show the next time rekordbox starts.

Good to know

rekordbox can stay open

What MixReady adds shows the next time rekordbox starts. Add to rekordbox and reopen it restarts rekordbox for you — do that at home or between sets, not mid-performance. If a dialog in rekordbox stops it closing, MixReady adds nothing and tells you.

A backup comes first

Settings → DJ software → Library backups puts an earlier one back. Quit rekordbox before you restore.

Streaming tracks need rekordbox signed in

A streaming track plays once rekordbox is signed in to its service, and SoundCloud tracks only show while it is. Beatport tracks your region can't play are left out.

If a track gets no cues, the message after the write says which ones and why. A track has to be in rekordbox first, so add the playlist before writing cues. Memory cues never need a free slot; hot cues only use pads you've left empty, so a track with all eight taken gets none.

Questions

Does rekordbox have to be closed?

No. What MixReady adds shows the next time rekordbox starts. Add to rekordbox and reopen it restarts rekordbox so you see the playlist straight away. Only restoring a backup needs rekordbox closed.

Will this overwrite the cue points I set myself?

No. MixReady only fills free cue slots and only replaces cues it wrote itself. One catch: a cue of your own named exactly Mix in, Mix out, Bass or Drop counts as one of MixReady's, so give it another name.

Does MixReady change my music files?

No. The playlist and the cue points go into rekordbox, and your music files stay exactly as they are.
